Join us at the 12th Organisational Behaviour in Health Care (OBHC) conference, to be held at Alliance Manchester Business School on 15-17 April 2020. The conference is a world-leading biannual event which brings together over 100 of the top researchers in the organisation of healthcare from across the world to share the latest advances in research. OBHC is the flagship event of the Society for Studies in Organizing Health Care, a member organisation of the eminent Academy of Social Sciences, and has previously been hosted in cities such as Sydney, Dublin, Copenhagen and Montreal.
It is a great honour to host this conference in Manchester in 2020, with a conference theme ‘Managing Healthcare Organisations in Challenging Policy Contexts: Integration or Fragmentation?’, reflecting the pioneering role of Greater Manchester in implementing devolved arrangements for the provision of health and social care. We aim to investigate how contemporary policy trends, which are often infused with internal tensions and contradictions, are influencing healthcare systems, organisations and professions. We will also explore the various ways in which policy implementation could be enacted, resisted and reinvented by healthcare managers and professionals on the ground.
Submissions for presentations (by a 6,000-word full paper) and symposia (by extended abstract) will open from 20th May until 14th October 2019. All submissions meeting the conference requirements will be peer-reviewed. As in previous years, we will seek to publish selected papers from the conference in an edited book and a special issue of Journal of Health Organization and Management.
