Working across the sydey catalyst and Sydney West Translational Cancer Research Centres

The Workforce Education and Development Group at the University of Sydney is a research and development team focused on improving how we engage and educate busy health care professionals. We work across the spectrum of health professions using a variety of educational models and methodologies. Our research focus is on knowledge translation – translating evidence into clinical practice through education - and the multiple factors that impact on the education of health professionals.

Sydney Catalyst and Sydney West are two newly created Translational Cancer Research Centres (TCRCs). The Centres are multidisciplinary/multi-institutional endeavours that bring together outstanding teams of researchers and clinicians from leading NSW institutions across basic biosciences, molecular biomarker discovery, descriptive research, clinical trials, and implementation of best evidence-based care into practice.

This is your opportunity to contribute to a five year research program and as the Educational Research Fellow: Knowledge Translation in Cancer you will:

• contribute to the development of a 5 year research strategy to identify new research paths in knowledge translation in cancer
• develop and conduct specific educational research projects aimed at evaluation of the full spectrum of knowledge translation activities in the TCRCs
• lead and contribute to academic reports, publications and presentations
• contribute to the implementation of practical educational initiatives in the TCRCs
• establish effective working relationships with external and internal stakeholders regarding collaborative research projects
• contribute to the creation and ongoing development of an interactive website for team members
• seek additional research support through funding applications to granting bodies and other funding sources e.g. commercial groups
• contribute to research, ethics approvals, governance and reporting activities.

To be successful in this role you will have:

• postgraduate qualifications in education, or similar relevant experience
• knowledge and demonstrated experience in conducting applied research in education
• demonstrated experience working within multi-disciplinary, collaborative research teams
• well-developed knowledge of health service delivery and clinical practice
• high level demonstrated interpersonal skills, with good influencing and consultation skills
• demonstrated ability to plan and manage large research projects, programs or groups.

Desirable for appointment is your:

• experience in the health sector and/or professional training.
