10/03/2010 3:18:03 PM
Salary: £24,273 - £38,951 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience. Fixed term contract until 1 May 2013
The Peninsula Technology Assessment Group (PenTAG) is one of seven groups around the UK under contract to the NHS NIHR Health Technology Assessment Programme to produce a programme of assessments of health technologies, predominantly to inform national policy being developed by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE).
‘Health Technology’ covers any method used by those working in health services to promote health, to prevent and treat disease, and to improve rehabilitation and long-term care. ‘Health Technology Assessment’ (HTA) therefore covers a wide range of scientific investigation into the value and impact of health care interventions.
We are currently seeking two full-time researchers to join the group. You will be expected to lead the production of de novo HTAs for NICE and others, and lead detailed assessments of submissions made to NICE, working with other PenTAG staff in specific multidisciplinary project teams (including information specialists, health economists and decision analytic modellers). In addition, the postholders may contribute to smaller HTA projects being undertaken for local or national policy-makers and will have the opportunity to pursue their own interests within HTA.
The successful candidates will be able to work collaboratively and will have experience of health-related research. You will have a degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline and postgraduate research experience. It is essential to have a good understanding of UK NHS policy making environment and knowledge of systematic review methods.
These posts will be offered at either Associate Research Fellow or Research Fellow level depending on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidates.
Both posts are University of Exeter appointments and will be based in Exeter.
