About the 45 and Up Study The Sax Institute's 45 and Up Study is the largest cohort study ever conducted in Australia. More than 267,000 NSW residents 45 years and over were recruited to the Study and they have provided information on their health, lifestyle and demographic characteristics, as well as consent to link this data with other administrative data collections and to be contacted for sub-studies. The cohort is being followed up every five years. It provides large-scale, open-source research infrastructure that will not only address priority research questions in healthy ageing, but will be a long-term, Australian-specific resource for internationally leading public health research.
