8th National Health Reform Summit:  ‘Equity, Efficiency and Sustainability’

The Australian Health Care Reform Alliance (AHCRA) is pleased to announce the 8th National Health Reform Summit, 'Equity, Efficiency and Sustainability'.

AHCRA invites participation from its members and other organisations, professionals and consumers interested in a more equitable health system.

The theme of the 2018 Summit is ‘Equity, Efficiency and Sustainability’ and the program will include sessions on health funding, social determinants, future directions in health policy and a soapbox session for participants.  The Summit will also provide the opportunity for participants to influence the priority issues for AHCRA’s policy and advocacy work in 2018.

Summit Speakers will include:

  • Stephen Duckett, Director, Health Program, Grattan Institute
  • Ian McAuley, Fellow, Centre for Policy Development
  • Gemma Carey, Power to Persuade, NHMRC Research Fellow, Australian National University
  • Jane Hall, Professor of Health Economics and Director of Strategy, Centre for Health Economics Research and Evaluation (CHERE), University of Technology
  • Nick Graves, Professor of Health Economics, Queensland University of Technology
  • Sharon Friel, Professor of Health Equity, Australian National University, Adviser to the WHO on the Social Determinants of Health
  • Paul Jelfs, General Manager, Population and Social Statistics Division, Australian Bureau of Statistics
  • Andrew Wilson, Professor and Director of the Menzies Centre for Health Policy, University of Sydney

Monday, 26th March 2018, we are also offering a pre-Summit Workshop on ‘Why advocacy matters: how to maximise influence in the health sector'.   The workshop is free for AHCRA members.  Non-members are welcome to attend and a registration fee of $110 (gst inc) will apply.

Pre-Summit Workshop topics will include:

  • Key issues on the political and media agenda in 2018
  • How to run a successful campaign
  • Dealing with the media
  • Writing a press release
  • Lobbying 101
  • Social media
  • Dealing with the bureaucracy
