The Menzies Centre for Health Policy invites abstracts for its annual Emerging Health Policy Research Conference, to be held at the University of Sydney on Thursday, 27 June 2019.
The Emerging Health Policy Research Conference showcases emerging health policy research of academic researchers, health policy professionals and higher degree research students.
Participation in the Emerging Health Policy Research Conference provides an opportunity to:
Submissions for oral presentations from all areas of health policy -including international health, health systems, history of public health, indigenous health, health economics, health promotion and sociology are sought. An abstract can include research that has been completed, or that has been planned, but not conducted or finalised.
STEP into UHC - developing the heath technology assessment unit of the Philippines as an integral ingredient of UHC

The concept of cost-effectiveness as main criteria for procurement of new technologies was embedded in Filipino policy back in 2003. In this talk Ioana Ursu will discuss how a decade old policy concept finally became a real HTA unit (STEP) within the Department of Health, with a decisive role in the implementation of the recently signed Universal Health Care Act of the Philippines.
Ioana Ursu, PharmD, is the former Secretary of State of MOH Romania and senior health systems consultant, with over 15 years’ experience in policy making and advisory services focusing on pharmaceuticals. In her ministerial role, Ioana was in charge of the national pharmaceutical policy and pharmaceutical sector development. In her extensive consultancy activity, Ioana worked on mapping health systems and advising sector stakeholders globally.
