Following the success of our workshops in Sydney in March and June 2017, the Australian Health Services Research Institute is conducting another one day workshop on Thursday 14 December 2017:
Measuring, Managing and Benchmarking Health Outcomes: An Overview
Associate Professor Jan Sansoni (Director, Australian Health Outcomes Collaboration), Ms Frances Simmonds (Director, Australasian Rehabilitation Outcomes Centre), Dr Kate Williams, Ms Cristina Thompson and Mr Darcy Morris (Centre for Health Service Development), with expertise in the field of health outcomes, will provide an overview of the current Australian and international focus on health outcomes and the different types of measures and indicators used in health outcomes evaluation. Health outcomes will be discussed in relation to population health, evidence based health care, quality improvement, outcome benchmarking and ‘value-based’ health care activities undertaken by health and community care organisations. Applications to both primary care and acute care will be presented and there will be some discussion of the challenges and implications of outcomes based commissioning. The use of standardized patient-reported outcome and experience measures and outcome measurement suites will be reviewed within the context of quality improvement and health service evaluation.
