Treatment overload: Lifting the burden of too much healthcare

November 13 @ 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Free

PCHSS Health System Simulation

Nearly 30% of healthcare treatment provides little or no benefit to the patient. This type of healthcare waste impacts the sustainability of our health system.

Join the NHMRC Partnership Centre for Health System Sustainability’s experts on health system sustainability and healthcare waste as well as policy makers, health professionals and health consumers as we address the complex issue of low-value care and its impact on the future of Australia's health system.

Central to the event, will be a unique interactive simulation of the health system, facilitated by Professor Jeffrey Braithwaite, empowering people to take on roles outside of their usual experience and view the health system from an different perspective. We will also hear the evidence from another researcher (Professor Paul Glasziou); and the lived experience of a consumer (Lord Timothy Benson).

Ms Elizabeth Koff, Secretary for NSW Health, will open proceedings on the day.
