AWARDS 1

This award recognises the best scientific published works in the field health services and policy research. Awards will be made for the following catagories:

Best overall paper (Australian)

Best overall paper (New Zealand); and

Best paper by an ECR (Australian)

Best paper by an ECR (New Zealand).

*Early Career Researchers (ECR) are defined as researchers who have not published more than 15 papers as first author and do not hold an academic appointment at Associate Professor level or above. For those who have been awarded a doctorate (PhD) this needs to have been within five years of the conference date (longer periods will be considered on application for those claiming career disruption).

Submission can be a single study or a collection of studies, qualitative or quantitative, or a synthesis of existing data

Criteria

Self nomination is acceptable.

Candidates must be individual HSRAANZ Members or staff/students of a HSRAANZ corporate group , or nominated by an individual or corporate member.

Papers may have multiple authors, but the nominee must be the first author and must declare their contribution to the paper.

Papers must have been published (including early view papers) in a peer-reviewed journal.

Special consideration will be given to articles that produce new insights and have the potential to change current thinking.

Completed Application Form (See below).

Copy of  published paper.

Declaration of nominees contribution to the paper.

Judging Criteria

Submissions will be judged on the authors demonstrated ability to:

Write clearly and concisely.

Present ideas and arguments logically

Use appropriate, sound methods;

Show how their results are relevant to policy and/or practice.

Show the importance of key issue/focus,

Demonstrate advancement of knowledge in the field,

Demonstrate new insights.

Assessment: By a panel of experts and peers (including policy makers) selected by the HSRAANZ Executive.

Applications should be submitted to the HSRAANZ Executive Officer by 5pm on Friday 29 July 2016.

The Awards will be made at an HSRAANZ event and AGM to be held in October/November.  Applicants may be invited to present their research at the event.
