Health Research South is the entity responsible for the integrity of the health research conducted within the joint research environment of the Dunedin Medical Campus and Southern District Health Board. Operating out of the DMC’s Office of the Dean, HRS is responsible for health research within the Campus, and also takes on the role of Research Office for Southern District Health Board.
The Manager of Health Research South is responsible for providing leadership and oversight of the advisory and financial services offered by Health Research South to a range of stakeholders, for providing support to the Health Research South Board and for management of research office personnel and processes.
The role involves the crucial building and maintenance of relationships with senior and research staff from both Southern DHB and DMC to develop and implement strategy and processes for advancing the direction of health research in both organisations, and for ensuring compliance and providing support for that research.
The work also involves liaising with external organisations to negotiate contracts and funding for clinical trials on behalf of the Southern DHB, in preparation for organisational sign off.
Your skills and experience
The successful candidate must have a postgraduate degree or significant research management experience, be experienced in leading and working independently and have excellent communication skills. Good financial skills and computing skills; database, Word and Excel, are also essential. A good working knowledge of the health research environment in New Zealand would also be an advantage.
This is a full-time, permanent position.
