UNSW Medicine is a national leader in learning, teaching and research, with close affiliations to a number of Australia’s finest hospitals, research institutes and health care organisations. With a strong presence at UNSW Kensington campus, the faculty have staff and students in teaching hospitals in Sydney as well as regional and rural areas of NSW including Albury/Wodonga, Wagga Wagga, Coffs Harbour and Port Macquarie.
The Centre for Big Data Research in Health (CBDRH) aims to improve the health of the population through research using large-scale electronic data that integrates information about biology, clinical care, health services and the social and physical environments The CBDRH is in a rapid growth phase at present. There are currently around 21 academic staff, 11 professional staff members and 13 HDR students.
The National Perinatal Epidemiology and Statistics Unit (NPESU) is joint unit of the Centre for Big Data Research in Health (CBDRH) and the School of Women’s and Children’s Health within the Faculty of Medicine. The NPESU is a leading national research unit that conducts epidemiological, health services and health economics in reproductive medicine, pregnancy, childbirth and the neonatal period. The Unit is data custodian for the Australian and New Zealand Assisted Reproduction Database (ANZARD) which is a registry of all ART cycles performed in Australia and New Zealand, and the Australian and New Zealand Neonatal Network (ANZNN) which is the regional registry for high-risk infants admitted to neonatal intensive care units.
The Research Fellow/Senior Research Fellow will be responsible for producing high quality research (individually and collaboratively) as part of the NPESU. They will foster excellence in epidemiological research, supervise and mentor junior researchers, and continue to develop their scholarly research in perinatal and/or reproductive medicine. They will develop strong national and international collaborations and generate external funding to support their research program, as well as enhance the profile of the NPESU, the CBDRH and the SWCH. The Research Fellow/Senior Research Fellow will also contribute to the teaching programs in the Centre for Big Data Research and the School of Women and Children’s Health.
About the role
- Level B $103k – $122k plus (17% superannuation and leave loading)
- Level C $125k – $144k plus (17% superannuation and leave loading)
- 36 Months
- Full-time (part-time appointments maybe considered)
