The New Zealand Ministry of Health has developed the cancer action plan (the Plan) in consultation with a number of sector stakeholders to ensure they work collaboratively to prevent cancer and improve detection, diagnosis, treatment and care after treatment for all New Zealanders.
The Plan sets out the actions required over the next 10 years to ensure better cancer outcomes. It has four main goals:
- New Zealanders have a system that delivers consistent and modern cancer care
- New Zealanders experience equitable cancer outcomes
- New Zealanders have fewer cancers
- New Zealanders have better cancer survival.
From 1 September 2019 to 13 October 2019, the Ministry of Health is seeking feedback from New Zealanders about the cancer action plan.
