    HSRAANZ Webinar Recording Now Available – Evaluation of the appropriateness and quality use of pathology in Australian general practice

    In this webinar Professor Andrew Georgiou, from the Australian Institute of Health Innovation (AIHI), Macquarie University presents on a study undertaken by the Diagnostic Informatics team at AIHI in collaboration with Outcome Health’s POLAR Aurora Research Consortia including Gippsland, Eastern Melbourne and South Eastern Melbourne Primary Health Networks (PHNs). The study was funded by the Australian Department of Health Quality Use of Pathology Program with the aim of providing benchmark data on how specific pathology tests are used in general practice and to investigate how test management practices align with evidence-based guidelines. The study provided findings about the use of key laboratory tests including glycated haemoglobin A1c, kidney function tests, ferritin tests for iron deficiency, vitamin D tests and prostate-specific antigen tests.

    Sydney Health Partners’ newly ratified Data Sharing Accord

    The Accord is an agreement between  Sydney Health Partners’ (SHP) five major partners to standardise the information required from researchers when they apply for access to de-identified patient data, making it easier for researchers to obtain ethics and governance approval.
