The ABC’s TOP 5 Media Residency Program giving a voice to early-career researchers

Are you a dynamic early-career scholar or practitioner with a flair and passion for communicating your work to a broader audience?

Be a part of this unique and exciting opportunity and become the best communicator for your field of expertise.

Applications are now open for the ABC TOP 5 media residencies in: ScienceHumanities and Arts.

The ABC TOP 5 residencies provide an opportunity for applicants to experience a two-week in-house intensive placement based at the ABC.

The programs are designed to nurture the communication skills and media awareness of our emerging thinkers to help them share their knowledge and expertise with audiences seeking credible material and informed debate.

The successful applicants will spend two weeks 'in residence' at ABC Radio National, working alongside some of the country's best journalists and broadcasters, training in media communication and developing content for different ABC platforms.

The ABC TOP 5 Science program is now in its sixth year.

In 2020 the ABC TOP 5 Science is offered in collaboration with a new partner, the Australian National University, which brings a wealth of experience in research engagement to the program, including through its Centre for the Public Awareness of Science.

This residency is for early-career university PhD researchers in science, technology, engineering, maths and medical research (STEMM).

The five winners will undertake a two-week residency at the ABC Ultimo offices in Sydney in October 2020.
