The HSRAANZ is continuing to engage with the NHMRC Advanced Health Research and Translation Centres (AHRTCs) to ensure it has a role in promoting and supporting the conduct of high quality health services research through the MRFF. The nine Advanced Translation centres have established an Australian Health Research Alliance (AHRA), which has been tasked by the MRFF to develop national frameworks for systems change. Association representatives met last week with Chris Levi from the Alliance to discuss this work and how HSRAANZ members can get involved. For more background on the work of the Alliance see this news item.
The Alliance has established a Health Systems Improvement and Sustainability (HSIS) Steering Committee that has been funded through the MRFF, with 3 working groups looking at HSR and Evidence Synthesis and Dissemination/Education; Change and improvement of clinical practice; and Health system evaluation and assessing new models of care. The Commonwealth Department of Health is taking an interest in this work.
The timeframe for reporting back on the national frameworks is tight and the Alliance is keen to consult key stakeholders, including the HSRAANZ on draft proposals as they are developed.
The Association is planning to run a webinar on the recommendations from the HSIS steering committee to enable HSRAANZ members to have their say.
Keep an eye on the HSRAANZ Website for more updates.
