Reema Harrison – Ordinary Member

With a background in psychology, health services research and enhancement (BSc (hons) Psychology; MSc Health Psychology; PhD in Patient Safety), I lead a team of researchers in the Healthcare Engagement and Workplace Behaviour research stream, at the Australian Institute of Health Innovation, Macquarie University.

I am a mixed-methods researcher with expertise in using co-design and participatory approaches with diverse populations, with a strong track record of translational health systems and services research. I have led (n=35) or been an investigator (n=20) on >50 collaborative research projects totaling >$14M funded by NHMRC, ARC, MRFF, Cancer Australia, federal and state-wide health agencies to improve healthcare safety, quality, and equity. I also have conducted projects with associated publication in promoting the adoption of health services change for improvement through a range of funded, commissioned works.

My expertise and experience is demonstrated through >100 peer-reviewed research articles, >80 research presentations (including >35 keynote and invited), designing and delivering >10 undergraduate, postgraduate and professional development courses, and having supervised >30 higher degree research student projects.

Drawing upon my experience and expertise, particularly in user centric health service research and as an experienced health services educator, I seek to contribute to the committee across a range of areas relevant to HSRAANZ’s strategic goals. Specifically, I seek to create opportunities to connect multi-health system interests and priorities for health services research in the UK, US, Canada and beyond to leverage opportunities for learning and change. Should my nomination be successful, I seek to leverage my existing networks and collaborations in the UK (Universities of Leeds, Manchester, Bristol, Bradford, and Bradford Hospitals NHS Trust) US (Massachusetts General, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, IHI), and Canada (University of Toronto, McGill University), towards a project of mutual value identified via the HSRAANZ broader network and international collaborators.
