The HSRAANZ Awards and Prizes Program recognises individuals who have made significant contributions to health services and policy research in Australia and New Zealand.

Our awards are designed to celebrate excellence in research, engage both new and existing stakeholders, and promote diversity and inclusion across the sector.

In line with our mission and core principles, we invite and encourage diverse nominations across a range of dimensions - including, but not limited to, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, geography, disability, discipline, and employer type.

The 2026 HSRAANZ Awards will be presented at the 14th Health Services Research Conference, to be held from 2-4 December 2026 in Wellington, New Zealand.

First Nations Award

This award aims to recognise First Nations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples of Australia, and Māori, tangata whenua of Aotearoa-New Zealand) researchers or First Nations-led projects whose work contributes to improving health inequities for First Nations people through engaging principles of social justice, self-determination and empowerment.

Mentor Award

This award is to recognise HSRAANZ Mentoring Program mentors who have gone above and beyond in supporting mentees’ professional growth, inspiring excellence, demonstrating leadership, challenging career progression, and dedicating exceptional time and energy to the mentoring relationship.

Distinguished Investigator Awards

These awards recognise investigators who have made significant contributions to the fields of health services and policy research in Australia and New Zealand through scholarship and teaching, advancement of science and methods, and leadership.

Categories include:

  • Mid-Career Investigator
  • New Investigator

Health Services and Policy Research Papers of the Year

These awards recognise the best scientific works in the field of health services and policy research.
